seems like they wanted to resign drake but didnt want to spend as much
they seen not like us which was already a good track and just poured gasoline on it
its a good tactic, they can just go in the meeting like we have to charge u less because you;re not as popular, u have dirt on your name
but his streams remained untouched
i think even drake is shocked hes still the #1 rap streamed and like #4 pop he got too many hits
most of america dont give a fukk about a rap beef they just listen to music
40 year old white dude unless hes a hip hop media head aint saying drake lost turn that drake off
we'll see how it turns out in court, i think umg settles before it goes to trial they not gonna expose the machine

Precisely.

Plus, I really dont think people want to consider that a label would try to undermine their expensive-to-maintain artist …except they’ve done this before several times :francis:

yet Drake only wanted to stop it from happening...now.

if this is an ongoing problem, why is he only making a stink about it now?

and why do you only care...now?

maybe drake stans were expecting a response

but like lucky and many many others have said, Drake sounded defeated as fukk

Facts this is easily verifiable in both the heart 6 and NLU threads at the time The Heart 6 dropped.

You cats keep repeating this theory and it makes zero sense.

Drake chose to engage in a high profile rap battle....easily the biggest rap battle in history, in terms of mainstream/pop culture relevance.

You're arguing they set him up and artificially pushed "Not Like Us" to tank Drake's worth....when Drake never had to engage Kendrick in the first place.

Unless you can prove UMG forced him to battle Kendrick, the 2nd part of the plan never comes to fruition.

And he's #1 streamed off his old sh*t. The sole platinum song he has in 2024 is "Family Matters". He hasn't had a top 25 hit since that song, and he hasn't had any songs on the Hot 100 in like 2 months.

Lastly, UMG already told him he's full of sh*t the same day the petition dropped. They obviously aren't interested in settling.

Fred.

Why do yall ask this sort of question as if it makes some bigger point?

He could be selfish as fukk, and it still be good for everyone.

Hov sells all of his ventures as community efforts as long as he benefits.

UMG isn’t going to admit otherwise. He got a boilerplate response to a lawsuit petition.

Let’s not give a CORPORATION the benefit of the doubt here.

nah i think after he engaged in the battle they saw the opening and said fukk it this is our shot, i dont think them and kendrick carved this plan up together, they never would have a way to weaken drake and make him take less in negotiation until this point then i think they made the move after that

kendrick already won the battle already
hes streamed #1 off his old shyt is a futile point if he was dismantled people would stop listening
none of his songs he released after that point had a serious rollout all the songs were released on his 100 gigs site
or just features
he simply hasnt released any music officially, hes doing ig rollouts or website rollouts and they go to streams a week later hes clearly testing his independent potential, whatever he saw gave him grace enough to go through with the lawsuit

i can see your argument is drake is done but u can never be done if people are still playing the music
