Smh people can’t see the forest from the trees. It’s pretty simple. No artist gets to just put their songs on DSPs without approval. Which is why the question should have been on May 4th who from the label gave the green light to put out NLU. It’s not simply about it being a rap battle. Despite these guys being artist, they are a brand, they are a business. The fallout from damaging Drake’s brand has had the intended ripple effect as seen. Someone at the label or DSP had to have known what Kendrick was going to say on NLU and gave the approval. No matter what anyone says Drake is a money maker for multiple groups, so to allow a song that called him a pedo to be blasted around the whole world is telling. We all know FM a 7 minute song was not going to go viral and be played on the radio. NLU was made to be a hit and pushed as such despite the implications in the song. This never was just a rap battle. I can’t understand why people can’t wrap their head around this. I can’t even understand how most people don’t even realize how the masses have been galvanized to hate ‘Drake’ as an artist not the person, in 8 months. These blogs and podcasters all repeating the same talking points which get picked up and repeated by tik tokers. No one questions the bizarreness of all of this.
Kendrick and Aubrey been throwing subs at each other for YEARS but all of a sudden UMG made the beef happen just so they can get Aubrey up outta here. An artist that makes them money. Coli conspiracy theories.

Aye, why you think nobody dapped your post?

Do you think it's weird? Do you feel "Bots" are in here dapping others posts and NOT yours ?
Because people in here don’t do their research and talk nonsense. I don’t care about daps. I want to be historically accurate. This is what I’m saying you and the others walk around here feeling accomplished simply by calling someone a troll or making fun but it does nothing because it shows yall ain’t interested in a genuine convo just bad faith arguments. That’s why i always ask everyone you gonna discuss the merits of what I wrote or deflect with ad hominem attacks.

If anything this discussion really holds a mirror to what’s happening. Everyone would rather be distracted by this battle when I’ve been saying look at what’s been happening with these labels firing people and making adjustments because the music industry has to change. People are so simple minded they only look at music as just music when there is so much stuff that goes on behind the music but they only want the salacious stuff.

In hard economic times, companies do a lot of M&As and now contracts and incentives have to be discussed. There is a projection that we will only have three major labels going forward in the future. That is direcly or indirectly tied to this beef. Wait till you hear how Taylor Swift is potentially involved in this.

I would just like to point out that not even the old jew suid Ice Cube over No Vaseline where he called 5 different men fakkits in the 90s.

Thats how much of a bytch Drake is, also good luck to him at discovery if this goes to court :mjlol:

I agree that discovery is definitely where this falls apart but your comparison really doesn't work.

Getting called out of your name is a matter of pride. Getting called a pedophile on a song is completely different matter. In 2024, if we're being completely honest, only the dumbest of individuals are getting someone touched (no pun intended) over some bars. If you really feel a way about something like this, going the legal route is kind've all you have, even if it's not a particularly good look.

In the 90s getting called a fakkit was as bad as getting called a pedo today.

Interscope is under UMG. You guys with this magical narrative that an artist is independent and can do whatever they want clearly don’t understand the music business. This is all tied together. That’s what the lawsuit is about
lol you dumb. That’s literally the point of being independent and licensing your music. He’s no longer under the thumb of UMG dumbass. Hence them not even knowing about GNX dropping until that morning. UMG has no jurisdiction on Kendrick
