UMG allegedly had their finger on the scale, IN EXCESS, of regular marketing that big artists get. Thats the nuance here. I know it’s hard to grasp but Kendrick and Drake were always going to be premier draws. The label just had to let it play out. Don’t gas either side. Don’t amp shyt up, etc. UMG was clearly spending money on the record in ways far more aggressive than they would have for a natural song.
UMG pushed that shyt far in excess of what it normally would have done IN THE MIDDLE OF DRAKE’S CONTRACT RENEGOTIATION WITH DRAKE. If you’re OK with this, then say so…but Drake is not gonna just tolerate that from his own label snaking him out after already clearing his deal.
Now, I don’t know what you would do…but Drake’s options are basically to sit there and take less money or blow the whole thing over.

You missed the point. It was not about rap anymore once the stans started the memes, conspiracy theories and calling the police and the feds and the corporate twitters chiming in. That wierd behavior got nothing to with rap. There was a 100 page thread on this site with yall listening to a gay man on twitter make up stories about evidence he had that drake was a pedo.
