Is it insane though? Folks get killed over rap disses and to be fair, folks have been killed for less. Nipsey got bodied for calling someone a snitch. Falsely calling someone a pedo is grounds for being violated. 99% of yall would crash out if yall where in drakes position with folks joking about you being a pedo. He’s suing because UMG chose to amplify the claims in the song instead of protecting his interests, as they are obligated to do. The lyrics are the lyrics, but literally making a campaign to make money off calling someone a pedophile is wild.

If Drake had a hit record saying “now beat yo wife! Beat yo wife! Now beat yo wife! Beat yo wife!” And Kendrick decided to sue UMG, this thread would look a lot different.

Ok explain to me what the label could have done differently. The song was hit and people loved it. Are they not supposed to lean on and promote it?

Here is another angle. Might just be Drake getting the grounds ready for a defamation lawsuit against UMG so Kendrick cant perform the song during the superbowl. Normally I can't imagine the NFL would let a rapper do a diss song as part of the show but Im sure Jay got them to give the greenlight plus its his biggest hit in years and the reason he got the performance anyway.

So would yall rather be called corny and lame by internet nerds for filing a lawsuit (When folks already think you're corny) or allow someone to call you a pedo during the superbowl. Pretty sure whatever blow back he gets now would be 10x worse if kendrick performs it on the worlds biggest stage.

The tracks were heavily botted to influence public opinion.

If it was reversed it would be called out. The whole industry uses bots but this was an extreme case.

So much of the basis of the Drake stan argument is assuming that everyone watched/listened to Family Matters.
