I don't agree with Boyce at all on this one.
He said he didnt like jordans hof speech but i loved it... what he doesnt realize is that Jordans biggest strength his fierce competitive nature is also his biggest weakness. It never shuts off and without it he would have never been as great as he was.
Jordan played so well he trancended the sport. For the average athlete i would say Boyce's general criticism would be correct. But when you reach goat status then your success alone IS enough be inspirational and considered a major contribution to black community in itself. He doesnt need to do anything else. He is arguably the greatest athlete in any sport not just basketball...
I also dont agree with him downplaying Jordan putting blacks in power positions in his company as hooking up his friends. Im sure they are qualified to be in their positions.. too suggest otherwise serves the interest of the people Boyce is suppossdly against. Its not Jordans or any one persons responsibility to help millions on blacks He doenst even know. Is he expecting jordan to send every black person a check? Jordan is doing what he should be doing. Helping those blacks around him he can directly influence succeed in the way he is comfortable doing it. If every black person did that the community would be in a better place. But it seems a large portion is sitting around waiting on the jordans of the world..
Boyce has a right to his opinion. But personally I can admit I was positively inspired by Jordan growing up. He made me wanna be great as well and that translated to the success I have had in my career... people hate on mayweather for the same things but im inspired and proud to see blacks achieve that level of personal and career success without having to compromise. That drives me to work harder and be better.
