at this point it's gotta be a curse.
They spent all their time and energy doing dumb shyt and tossing depth out the window trying to make a 'splash' on defense, never understanding that getting a big name 'pass rushing' DT wasn't going to help. The trenches on this team are dogshyt. Bosa gets neutralized every game by a combination of uncalled holds and his inability to move laterally. If his initial get-off isn't a win, he ain't gon win at all. They've been chasing an edge on the other side to compliment him, but never understanding that there is no edge that can compliment him because he honestly shouldn't be an edge rusher :yeshrug: he has no lane discipline. Constantly pushes up-field past the rest of the line, leaving a giant void behind him that agile QBs - and even unathletic ones - exploit constantly. He lacks lateral mobility to then pivot and move to the side to prevent outside zone runs so they blow right past him. Defense needs to move back to a 3-4 and Bosa needs to put on 20lbs and play DE.

Defensive gameplan vanilla as fukk. No stunts. Minimal blitzes. Absolutely no concept disguises. The only reason it's half as good as it is, is literally because Fred Warner is filling in gaps on the first and third levels WHILE continuing to basically be the second level by his damn self. If something happens to Fred, a whole bunch of illusions about this defense gon come to light with immediacy.

Jy'air and Hufanga starting together is stupid - they're both thumper SSs and they got them interchangably playing FS. So what happens? Deep ball exposure.

And my god don't even get me started on the OL. Trent isn't in shape and is trying to play himself into it at 36 - that ain't gon work. Mans has needed an IV every game he's played this season ffs. Puni is doing his best but he's just one man, and he's being asked to not just figure this out as a rookie, but also cover for McKivitz being a liability.

But no.
We needed to draft a first round WR who ain't seeing the field. Who needs a tackle, right? Brock has legs, make him use them :troll:
They about to pay this man, but then fukk around and give him the same kind of line that almost got rookie Alex Smith killed on the field? Surest sign of not protecting an investment.

Team has holes at TE, OT, OG, C... literally every unit responsible for throwing a block on this team that didn't go to Harvard are a giant fukking question mark.

It makes sense though. Like the brother said earlier on this page - talent has been covering a truly staggering amount of administrative and positional deficiencies, and... talent can't last forever. Especially when it isn't being restocked. And triply so when the S&C team on SF have been dogshyt for going on 10 fukking years now with no betterment in sight. If the team gets someone who works, they get hurt or they aren't in shape to help when it matters. Because... because Kyle can not change his plan. He refuses to deviate from what it is he wants, even for the betterment of the team.

He thinks he knows better, all the time. And it's fukking exhausting. Because all he had to do was not pull a Pete Carroll and abandon the run with a lead. Playing empty backfield on a team with a FB, multiple game-ready RBs and multiple WRs on the team who can run the ball is fukking abysmal playcalling.

It's crazy because Maliek Collins has shown just how ineffective Hargrave has been. Collins been playing his ass off opposite Hargrave and now his job is that much harder now.

I think Collins and Armstead would have been a great combo but unfortunately he was the easier one to cut over Hargrave, that's all hindsight now.

On a brighter note, as of today, Purdy is 2nd in passing yards, Mason is 2nd in rushing yards and Jennings is 3rd in receiving yards. We can't say the offense isn't doing its job. We're known to start slow so maybe we'll pick it up, the defense is our issue now.

The defense was fine. They forced a turnover on Mahomes in the SB and held them back more than enough to win the game. Is he better than Sorensen or not? Cause that was what I said
The defense last year had glaring issues as well but were able to get timely turnovers in A LOT of games, and that's not something that is sustainable season to season. It's been the main difference between this year and the last tbh, we cannot turn momentum on our side and capitalize nor close the door on teams when they are trying to mount and comeback via a turnover on our own field (that eats up clock, keeps the score the same and crushes the opponent's hopes).

We got exposed on defense in the playoffs against GB and Detroit, and basically lucky as fukk in the NFCCG because Dan Cambell was a moron in the 2nd half. Wilks best games were against Philly and the Superbowl but overall he was clearly a step down from both Saleh and of course DeMeco.

And he was pretty honest about it too. He basically realized he could not stay if Kyle was going to force him to run our current scheme and got the boot for it.

He probably IS better than Sorensen, who is learning on the job and might just be straight up bad, but I don't think the defense was going to be "better" than last year if Wilks stayed either. And not being straight up bad -as we are right now- with Wilks wasn't going to do much for us anways.

.

A few of yall clearly don’t have the stomach for what needs to be done. Today would be a great jump off point

What the entire fukk???

BTW, I also blame the Brandon Staley hiring as assistant HC. That useless mofo brought all the incompetence with him and made all our flaws worse :scust: :pacspit:

The Yay
Steve Wilkes is a better DC than this cac Sorensen. He just not a yes man that concedes to Kyle
I'll have to agree. At least Wilks got the best out of DBs. Had Ward looking like an all pro shutdown corner. Ward getting beaten awfully by Tutu was as bad as hes been here. Maybe it was injury but Idk...so far I dont see anything to like about Sorensen. Teams laugh when seeing the D dropping Floyd or Bosa in coverage. Thats the only thing that is different this year compared to usual scheme. And it does nothing because our DEs cant (and shouldnt) cover

I remember them routinely coming up big when it mattered most like late in games :manny:

Bend but don’t break, and enough to win. This defense isn’t even that
