I'm a full-decade 90s kids so I got some stories about the discount store vhs tapes.
My Grandma had this tape and I remember my cousins and I always begging to watch it whenever we visited.
Found out years later the tape was a localization of some 1970s "anime" based on Beauty and the Beast, and two more cartoons, Don Quixote and Noah's Ark.
She also had a "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" 99 cent store tape we would watch every Christmas. I remember it actually being some cartoons from maybe the 1940s. Really good actually. Like some Fleischer Studios, golden age type animation. I gotta look that up.
My Mom once bought me one of those cartoon compilation tapes they sold at every 99 cent store. She had no idea it had one of those banned Warner Bros Bugs Bunny cartoons on it. And yes, it was the one with the black Elmer Fudd.
Mom got me a Kimba the White Lion tape from the discount store once also. I watched the HELL out of this. That is all.
There's a particular Betty Boop cartoon I remember from one of these tapes that I loved so much when I was a kid. I remember it had something to do with her owning a pet shop, feeding these birds, some kid causes the birds to go loose, Betty cries but the kid saves the day somehow. If anyone knows please tell me.
Nice thread OP. I know brehs who came up in the 90s got some funny bargain bin aisle vhs tape stories like this.
