Ok this is something ive been wondering about for a while. When i produce high i work on another level mentally, like no rules crazy arrangements and drums an shyt, unique sounds and what not. But when i listen to it sober the mix is always awful. So its like my detail is better when im sober, but creativity wise im much better high. I know this is a really random question but i wanna know cus i always see videos of dudes smokin mad blunts in the studio but I know if i did that shyt it would be one funny ass day in the studio. And by funny i mean stupid and entirely unprofessional.

As far as hearing samples and getting a feel for everything yes. But when it comes down to cleaning things up/snapping notes into place it's tedious and I hate doing tedious shyt when I'm high

same here breh. i listen to music and do other shyt around the house or something while high, but as far as sitting down and editing shyt, chopping, eqing, etc, ill end up spendin like 2 hours on eqing a hihat and staring at the monitor in 10 minute increments like

It depends, I get way too much distrated when i'm high. I might start a new beat and feel very inspired but I often end up fukking around
I have interesting ideas when I'm high but I cant execute anything. I've had to accept that I'm not a functional high person. That shyt is for chillin, period. I always keep a pen and pad around tho so I can jot things to do when I'm sober. It works for me.

story of my lifeI think these pro (trap) producers can do that shyt cus all they need to do is make the core of the beat and move on to the next one. Lowkey I don't think these dudes really do much else besides make the beat and arrange it (I bet they get help with that too). Im sure at some point they used to mix it and everything tho.
Lowkey the type of weed matters a lot tho, shyt I got right now is called lambs breath an it really increases creativity/motivation. If I had some purp id probably go a week without making a beat

i dont smoke but i know im not more in the zone when im drunk. that shyt makes it harder to concentrate on chopping samples. Dragging notes in the piano roll. My timing is off beat to if i would play.
