Do you think WWE could've done more with Ken Shamrock back in the day?

I remember the way they introduced him was strong, and his involvement in the Austin/Bret match at Mania was a nice touch, and his debut match with Vader was :whew: and made him look legit.

But it seemed like very quickly he became just another wrestler, and it was made even worse by the goofy angles he was getting involved in (that shyt with Val Venis and his sister :dead: ), plus going from face to heel to face hurt him a lot.

He had some momentum in 98 when he was feuding with Rock, but you would think if he came through today, he would be treated like Brock or Ronda, as a special attraction, legit killer and not be stuck in midcard feuds. And unlike Ronda, he actually had prior wrestling experience, and I thought he was solid in the ring.

But it was a different time…it was the fukkery era, and the fans didn’t even really care about matches, and certainly not legitimacy, so it’s maybe unfair to judge his booking through 2019 eyes…but I think they could’ve done better with him. He went from world’s most dangerous man to just another guy in two years.

Yes..more could of been done. If they can push Cripple H out of nowhere, Shamrock could be set up too.

Yeah.

He was low-key one of the most dominant IC champions of the Attitude Era (where no one was guaranteed to be champion longer than a week after winning it), and despite his somewhat questionable angles from time to time, in the ring he was always treated like a walking time bomb that could fukk ANYBODY up.

Most definitely! Shamrock was the WHC we never had. He had the intensity, skills and could talk enough to be a top level star. It's a shame they jobbed him out on several occasions, as he was a legit bad a$$ and could fukk anyone up that came in his way.

Besides, his theme was piff as well.

Should have been a transitional champion in 98.

Considering the longest WWF title reign of that year was 91 days (Austin; he had another that went 90 days and HBK, who started 1998 as champion, had it 87 days into the year), on one hand I could see why that transitional reign didn't happen. Not much to transition from.

But... if the longest reign of that year was 91 days (and the belt was vacant for two months) you can't tell me Shamrock couldn't have been champion for a week or two. Mankind did it :yeshrug:

Bret wanted to drop the title to Shamrock the night after Montreal. The rest was history

On the real, WWE could had made sort of a MMA/Wrestling type of feud as a midcard type of affair since they had Dan Severn and Steve Blackman in the cut. Imagine If all three of those dudes ran a stable with Corny (Since dude was on his anti sports entertainment steez around that time). Man :banderas:
