Do You Still Write Cover Letters When Applying To Jobs In 2016?

Lately, I've been searching for a new job and nothing feels like more of a waste of time in this search then writing a cover letter, especially when most recruiters say they don't even read them. I'm sure at one time they were essential to HR recruiters but in 2016, it just seems like they are obsolete and just go straight to a black hole.

Maybe I'm wrong on this but I wanted to see how TLR felt about cover letters in 2016. Are they still relevant to you?

I HATE a cover letter. Just ask me what you want to ask me. My resume is good? Bring me in for an interview.

Don't tell me you're writing individual letters for each job you apply for. it's not that deep have a template letter saved with all the standard shyt ie introduce yourself, qualifications, accomplishments at your previous job, for each position you apply for tweak a few lines accordingly and name drop the company, it also helps to google sample cover letters for the job you're applying for

No unless they specifically ask for one. Also don't give references unless they ask for them.
