I always thought it would be cool to put out something like open linear resistance game, where you land at a beach like Normandy and have to get your battalion of soldiers from one side of a peninsula or small country to the other. Maybe even a post-war torn United States. Instead of Germans/nazi’s you would be fighting aliens, but it would still be really grounded and realistic like saving private ryan, black hawk down, 1917…etc
You could command your troops to take position in ruined buildings, sniper outpost, lay mines or just take up a fire position somewhere. You could strategically freeze time and move your troop to the desired location (they can’t take any actual action but moving)
Think last of us 2 style story telling but think of how Death Stranding looked in those time loop scenes.
