It's a big deal in circles I'm a part of, but there's a lot of defeatism too considering the court.

Once again, it's almost impossible to tell whether you're a disingenuous liar or just so fukking stupid that you're indistinguishable from one.

Brett Kananaugh said they went too far, dumbass. BRETT fukkING KAVANAUGH! You have Bush's personal legal counsel and lifelong conservative hack coming in and saying, "Um, guys, you do realize if you do this then we might completely fukk up the country and our own water supply, right?" Do you realize how extreme a decision has to be to get that response?

No one cares about the 9-0 decision on one little property. The issue is a majority 5-4 ruling within that decision that just unilaterally stripped the established protections from half of the wetlands in America. Just like what they did to the Voting Rights Act and the Clean Air Act, this Supreme Court thinks they can straight up rewrite laws left and right. They're not saying it's unconstitutional or violating anyone's rights to protect those wetlands, their reversal is based on what "we think the people who wrote the laws must have meant", as opposed to the science behind how wetlands actually work and the precedent for how the Clean Water Act has been enforced for decades.

Basically, this Supreme Court believes it can rewrite every law from the last century to fit the far-right Federalist Society view of how laws should be interpreted, regardless of the precedent or repercussions of their decision.
