Do you go to failure on every set?

I try to go to failure on each set for each exercise i do. i never stop at a certain number of reps. i do count reps and go to at least 8-12 at the minimum at then take it to failure from there which is usually only 1-2 reps more anyway but at that point i cant do another one.

the feeling from going to failure really makes me feel like im doing something

REALLY going to failure can be harder then you think...just realised this the other day when i was training with someone and we went so hard that i almost literaly couldnt lift my arms up anymore. made me realise that i was going too soft sometimes.

maybe there are two types of failure: one where you fail to complete your set with heavy weights and one where you just burn your muscles to the ground using methods like stripping/pyramid sets.

shyt takes a lot of discipline though.

best to just go to technical failure so that you don't snap all your shyt up.

I mix up my workouts so on some weeks, I do go to failure with low weight/high reps sets, but there are other weeks where I am not going to failure with medium weight/medium reps, and heavy weight/low reps sets.

The reason I do this is because if I do 12 reps instead of 10 just to go to failure, that will get me tired. If my goal for the next set is to do another 10 reps, I may not be able to hit that goal, and I may have exhausted myself such that I can't even do 8. My total tonnage has gone down. Does it matter? I've pushed myself to the max. Yes, it matters. I may be able to hit my strength goals, but if I am constantly going to failure, I am not able to hit my mass growing goals.

Not every set, usually the last set I'll push failure on a given exercise. Forced negatives and rest pause training to failure is legit but I wouldn't suggest training like that unless you are on gear or working with a 6-8 week blast/cruise phase.

never go to actual failure but i do negatives now on just about everything(except squat/DL)

even on that vid where it looked like my back was breaking apparently, it was only the first set. I actually finished 2 more afterwards :ehh:

going to failure every workout kills your CNS, which in turn limits gains and causes over training which = slowed/lost gains

i thought you can get gains quicker by going to failure. isnt that what creates an overload in the training so your muscles can super compensate?

Going to failure will get your muscles bigger for sarcoplasmic growth but you won't get stronger...regardless if you are aiming for sarcoplasmic or myofibillar growth stopping 1-2 reps of failure is best because when you fail your telling your brain you can't do anymore
