Do you ever wonder what stories or ideas Marvel and DC have left on the cutting room floor?

Pertaining to comic books.They should write a book about these things.I just image the different variations or insane story lines of Wolverine or other heroes that may have been shot down.I would enjoy reading about different writers ideas that never got green lit.
