Do you ever underestimate the power of media?

Television, Radio, Magazine, Film, Newspaper etc; Do you underestimate how powerful media is? The major corporations like ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX have been around since the early 1900's. No stretch to say the funding for the major media outlets was tied into slave profit in some way. Media has always had the power to portray imagery and to use that portrayal to influence the masses positively and negatively. The same imagery projected by the media has been used to reinforce stereotypes and shapes how some in our society think.

In 2013, the majority of media is owned by a handful of companies. Big Giants own publishing companies, radio stations, tv stations, newspapers and at the the top it's all a play for mind control. Let's not mention the direct ties the conglomerates have with the current and shadow government to influence mass opinion with things like
(Kony 2012, wars etc)

With that being said, do you ever underestimate how powerful the media is? Do you ever think on how society is shaped by media?

No, the older I got the more I realized how dumb a lot of people were. Paying attention to politics and reading peoples opinions helped me see this. There is such a large number of people who do not check facts. They don't research for themselves and expect, since the "news" is the news it will be done there and reported honestly. I also noticed with how rumors spread a lot of people will believe whatever someone tells them. Whoever gets to them first, it's harder to change their minds after that. There isn't a news outlet today that isn't skewed or has some blatant bias. So if they take a story twist it the way they want and run with it over and over how many people will take it as fact without giving it a second thought? More than you want to believe.
