I know y’all have an obsession with the 90’s, but did yall do ya googles on 60’s-70’s funk and soul music? Y’all parents (Gen x) should’ve grown up on funk/soul before hip hop really took off so wondering if this music still lives on with yall generation or is it gonna die with (older) millennials?

They only like it in “Future Funk” or when they hear Plastic Love

They don’t like horns or strings or hand drums in music because they don’t feel anything

Gen Z about to be old news :wow:

This is about to be the first wave of Gen Alpha high school kids.

I know Gen X and Millenials look at old folks who played that music as “old school cool”, not sure how Gen Z approaches it. I know Gen Z looks at our generation as old school, and that includes 90’s Hip-Hop.

Definitely interesting to see if Gen Alpha rides with it or if they even roll with the 80’s. The type of trap music from the 90’s has a different sonic than the 2010’s and 20’s version, but still not that different like it is for boom bap vs trap.

An entire generation of black people are being born now whose PARENTS grew up on drill rap, NBA YoungBoy & Sexy Redd.

Imagine being born and your father worships King Von/Kodak Black and mother is a City Girls/Sexy Redd fanatic.

Imagine being born and ever since you were in your mom's belly you've heard almost nothing but low frequency , soulless trap/drill beats with "my booty hole brown", "spin da block on another black man" type lyrics over them.

Black people with "soul" and a certain type of love for each other are going to be an endangered species very soon......think about how much the older people in your families music played in shaping who you are overall as a person.

I fear for our future as a collective.
