Because it's easier than pitting him against the centers of NBA history?

Duncan/Spurs fans I'm not throwing shade at this man :whoa: he has 5 rangs and been the centerpiece of a successful team since 97 :whoa:

But his style of play is more in line with a center...and it's the position he played since Robinson retired...which was 13 seasons ago. And from I understand he was pretty much moved from center out of Wake Forest to accommodate to Robinson.

Is it because at the PF spot, there's talented players but their legacies as champions make it easy to define Duncan's greatness? :jbhmm:
Barkley was a superstar and probably the league most unique talent but no rings (victim of the Jordan reign)
Malone was the last big to average 30 (outside of rounding up Shaq's 99-00 season), was basically Amare on steroids, durable for 20 years but another victim of the Jordan reign
KG was probably the most versatile PF we've seen, freak athlete, Stat sheet stuffer, defensive anchor but spent his prime on a not-enough team in the West and won his ring after Duncan won 4.
Dirk revolutionized the 4 spot with his jumpshot and handle and was the offensive soul of the Mavs almost as long as Duncan but like KG didn't win till Duncan had 4 and was already given the GOAT PF title.

But at center it's a bit different. Kareem got 6 rings 6 MVPs and dominated his entire career.
Wilt was arguably the most physical dominant man in league history, numerous records and has 2 rings.
Shaq the other man who was head and shoulders over the NBA physically and has 4 rings.
Russell the most defensively dominant big and the soul of an 11 ring team (though his offensive shortcomings and a 12? league team may not let some of us rank him so high)
Olajuwon was an extremely versatile center who showed us full extent of what a center could do as an offensive threat and pulled off a repeat as the sole star in Houston (albeit during Jordan's retirement).

And then there's the centers who kind of fall in that 2nd tier...
Ewing was another Jordan era victim (ringless) who still had some great years statically on part with Duncan or better as New York's offensive and defensive anchor.
Moses was a beast and the last center to truly average 30 but only got 1 ring and from what it seems didn't change the game defensively, or at least that isn't spoken of.
His own teammate D-Rob had monster seasons in his prime though y'all say he was on the soft side and didn't play up to his billing in the playoffs.

So is Duncan listed with the PF pantheon to prevent him from being lost among dominant centers when his style of play is center-like and he's played the position for 13 of 19 seasons? Am I wrong in saying he's more center than PF? If we look at him in comparison to centers, am I underrating his value at that position and would he belong in the top 2 or 3 for his rings?

This ain't hate I just always was :jbhmm: at this for a minute. Lettuce discuss Coli brethren.
