If so, why. I understand that some shows (The Wire) will never be releaed in HD but for current movies, why? They're barely cheaper than Blu-Ray and look like shyt on HDTVs.

I do cause i see no point in getting everything in Blu-ray...i don't need an hd version of a drama, comedy, romance, suspense, etc...only need hd for special effects heavy movies and animes

42 in my little setup.
Then DVD's DO NOT look like shyt on your set-up. Maybe you have a shytty TV?

Your sized TV doesn't even need to be 1080p. And DVD's are still more popular than blu-rays overall so I'm sure plenty of ppl still use them

They're cheap. Old school DVD box sets of a series' entire run. Smaller and less popular series don't always get the HD/ Blu Ray treatment.

At the distance I sit I absolutely can discern 480p from 1080p.
