The mentality of the OP and the second poster is the equivalent of "blaming the victim". While those of us who really are interested enough in politics learn through study that a president doesn't/can't have much influence on jobs or the economy in general (banks, the fed and regulatory agencies have MUCH more influence), WHEN THEY RUN FOR OFFICE THEY CONSTANTLY SELL THEMSELVES AS THE SAVIORS OF ALL THINGS ECONOMIC.

OP I'm sure there was a moment in time when YOU actually believed the president had a lot of influence on jobs, right? Atleast when you were younger I'm sure you did. So why are you blaming THE PEOPLE for being conned. . . WHY NOT BLAME THE CON ARTISTS???

I doubt any candidate that said "Let's be honest here, I can't do much about the economy :manny: " would have any chance of getting elected.

There are lots of legitimate reasons to criticize politicans but that one seems a little petty to be honest. No politician is ever gonna say he can't do much about the economy.

Yes. the economy is not a natural system disconnected from human activity .. it is human activity. regulations, plans, monetary policy etc all affect the economic setup and cycle

No, but they can create the mood of many corporate CEO's which affect employment.

Conservative businessmen don't like Obama so they don't hire if they don't absolutely need too. Hence why the unemployment numbers are stagnant.

There are industries that drive mass job creation. They come and go. The president can't create a new direction and industry to drive the economy in.

It takes an effort from two parties for a successful lie. Someone willing to tell the lie, and someone willing to believe it. The lack of skepticism and education in our society on these issues is disheartening.
