or being ate? And for alot of animals, being ate isn't a worry at all.

I wonder what they're minds think about.

Like when ur dog is home all day by itself and just chillin. Or when ur watching a game or something and ur dog is just layin on the sofa next to you.

Any theories?

basically the question behind your question is do animals have a consciousness or is their behavior just stimulus response

I was watching this video about chimps and it showed them in the jungle just staring passively at some humans who were passing in a nearby boat. the narrator was saying, "I wonder how they observe the world, and what they think about what they see"

animals have many complex emotions such dread, anxiety, various forms of desires and wanting, complex attachment forming, and even mourning for the dead. many animals can suffer from different kinds of stress related diseases

this is typical to the mammalian brain which is more complex, probably a consequence to mammalian parenting. jane goodall discovered very complex emotions in chimpanzees nd thought that complex emotional states were much more common to animals than we really think

Since no one knows what 'consciousness' is, that question will remain unanswerable until we find some way to communicate with them. There have been some correlations made about some non-human species and their possession of 'emotions', but as far as morals/consciousness, no.

For example, some elephants & simians have been observed 'mourning' their dead for want of a better description of the activity.

Read/look up "If lions could talk". Its a philosophy/science book that tackles. Wittgenstein says animals arent bags of flesh, based on numerous scientific observations. He goes on about whether or not certain animals communicate the way Humans do. His conclusion is that we risk anthropomorphizing an animal when we compare Human emotions/morals/consciousness to that of an animal's

i knew this guy that was heavy in horse races and owned several race horses and he told me that the horses have big ego's and that when they win they sort of gloat or brag by making celebration noises and prancing movements which last even when they bring them back into their stables.

one other thing was that horses cant actually sleep by themselves, they need each other company to fall asleep naturally. if they dont have that close company they end up staying awake all the time and getting all sorts of health problems

This is so funny because you're such a stupid person you do very well of putting yourself in the paws of a dog and you really captured the mindstate of being a domesticated dog in this day and age, it made me giggle like Mowgli's hairline friend
