In listening on my phone so any comments on the mix can be taken with a grain of salt.

@DJ Mart-Kos I liked the vibe. It's a dope beat. I think the vinyl crackle or hiss is too loud. When the filter kicks in later and the noise is gone the beat sounds a lot cleaner. The snare sounds way louder than the kick and the reverb could be dialed down a bit.

@The Unknown Hype this is dope but it has a popular sample. I think if you chopped those parts or flipped it a little I would've liked it more. The other parts of the beat came out great. Really liked the vocal sample and you put everything together well.

I was leaning towards Mart at first because of the vibe but I gotta give it to Hype after giving his beat another run. He had the better mix.

For real? I can't hear the Kick being much lower than the Snare in my headphones? That hiss was already in the sample. I kinda agree after re-checking it. Gonna try to fix that...

Added: I actually checked the Loudness Meters on the Kick & Snare and they have almost exactly the same loudness.

When I run into a sample with a lot of hiss I use a dynamic eq vst. It lets you cut specific frequencies without destroying the rest of the sample.

It's really difficult to judge these primarily because I know for a fact someone changed the mix on their track mid showcase but even so I'll go ahead and give a critique.

both beats have great potential.

@DJ Mart-Kos The chops are dope, and your drums are definitely smacking. What sets it back is the sample/drum relationship volume. For one the overall master of the file is a little loud again, but I think that your drums are competing with your sample instead of the 2 complementing each other. If you turn down the sample, the drums won't have to work hard to stick out over the mix. The chops are good, and as i've said this has great potential to be something great, it just needs more edits in my opinion.

Great job with the intro starting it filtered really sets a great mood for the drop 21 seconds in.
From .42- 1:03 I was wondering what happened, until the beat smoothed out. I'm guessing you took a different part of the song, and the time stretching wasn't cooperating with the track. other then that bro, this is great. The mix is on point as well.

Yep, true although sometimes other people are just right. Gotta hear the beat again after a couple of days to have a clear ear
