An unreleased episode of Marvel animated series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur won’t air on Disney Channel over its politically sensitive LGBTQ themes, people who worked on the show say. The episode is about the recurring character Brooklyn, a trans classmate of Lunella Lafayette (aka Moon Girl), competing in a girl’s volleyball game and a “a narrow-minded coach” who tries to have Brooklyn barred from playing.

Disney didn’t write it….

The show submitted it and it didn’t clear standards and practices from the studio to air cause the temp is too hot right now.

Sort of like how shows and movies that promoted “race mixing” weren’t making it to audiences in the 40s and 50s.

On one hand, I think that's a p*ssy move honestly because fukk hoe ass Trump but on the other hand I don't know why Disney felt they needed to write this into a kid's show

Because they exist? What's wrong with y'all?

:childplease: So that means kids should have to have these conversations at 7-years old while they are just trying to enjoy their cereal?

There's a time and a place. But Disney backing down is even worse because now they are allowing MAGA Republicans to dictate what's on TV.... if you're going to write it, then stand on it.

First, do you understand that hate and every form it takes, is learned behavior?

I understand everything. I'm one of the only people on this board with a political background. There's an age when you sit down and talk about all these issues with kids and it's not necessary for a kid's show to broach the subject but if they are going to then stand by it.

I get where you're coming from, and I agree that age-appropriate discussions are essential. However, the good thing about representation in kids shows is that it introduces these topics in a way that's natural and relatable, rather than feeling like a formal "sit-down talk." It's not about teaching kids everything at once but about normalizing diversity so they grow up seeing it as a natural part of life.

Positive depictions of young trans kids in media play a crucial role in fostering acceptance, improving their well-being, and addressing the epidemic of trans suicides. Representation normalizes their experiences, it helps audiences see trans children as deserving of respect, dignity, and opportunities, which can reduce prejudice over time.

It's why I asked you about hate being a learned behavior. Education early on can have the opposite effect, especially for kids who identify as trans, or have friends or classmates who do, it can be affirming to see themselves or their peers reflected in a positive light.

No strong opinion. Profits will always win over true beliefs….i think majority of parents would rather not have this stuff in their children cartoons….also if my daughter loses to a team with trans athletes, I’m probably gonna be irritated
