I have always had this back and forth in my mind as to what is more important to a film a director or writer( sorry for those acting fans). Its easy to pick director because they are more high profile, but I would like to hear some real film buffs argument either way.

Like I said before I would pick the director even with a poor script a great director can stylize a film and make it special. That being said it is hard to beat a film with an amazing script especially since a lot of the great script writers will set the scene within the scene

Director is what attracts the talent (actors) that you love on screen. Someone with a vision for the moving picture. Writers don't have the same cache unfortunately unless they are Aaron Sorkin, William Monahan, Steve Zallian or Chris McQuarrie.

Actors need to know they will be taken care of, that's why the director is important.

A script makes or breaks a movie. The director brings the style and writer brings the substance
