He's a licensed anesthesiologist, highly educated, highly compensated MD, educator and author.

He came from studying in the middle of nowhere, to holding the surgeon generals office, as much as people talk about "coming up from the mud", he literally grew up on a mud farm in the sticks and excelled on scholarships to schools that enabled him to be at the top of his field.
