Diddy‘s mother, Janice Combs, has been sued for fraud after she allegedly assumed control of a 25 percent stake in Bad Boy Entertainment by unlawful means.
Combs, 84, is being sued by Kirk Burrowes, a founding partner in the label, who claims that he only signed his shares over under the threat of violence from Puffy.
According to Rolling Stone, Burrowes’ suit claims that he only recently learned of Combs’ alleged involvement in a 1996 bid to oust him from the company.
He also claims to have “irrefutable evidence” that Diddy’s mom “secretly received and unlawfully [assumed] control of [his] 25% ownership stake in [Bad Boy Entertainment].”
Burrowes claims that he was “betrayed” by Combs and that she conspired with her son to exclude him from the company he was president of.
The executive further alleges that Combs told him she was going to “rectify the theft of his ownership interest,” as the two stayed in touch as recently as 2021.
Combs is also accused of unjust enrichment and deceptive business practices in the complaint.
Through the lawsuit, Burrowes is seeking the return of his initial stake in Bad Boy, as well as compensation. He is also asking for an audit of the company’s financial records.
Neither Janice Combs nor Diddy have yet to respond to the allegations.
Burrowes previously sued Diddy in 2003 for allegedly deceiving him out of $25 million when he stormed into his office holding a baseball bat and forced him to sign a contract that forfeited his ownership in Bad Boy.
