Did you buy into the idea that Tyson bit Holyfield's ear......

.....because he apparently knew he was getting his ass kicked and copped out? I remember people making this claim which was totally ridiculous IMO.

This is the usual narrative every time this fight is revisited

I think Mike Tyson got frustrated because he didn't know how to work out on the inside, and because Holyfield head butted him blatantly multiple times, and the Popeye ref wasn't calling it. This lead to him flipping out. There was no "easy way out"

It’s both IMO. Tyson wasn’t the strongest guy mentally by his own account, so once Holyfield started butting him and he knew the ref wasn’t gonna do anything about it, AND he knew it wasn’t gonna be easy to actually win the fight, he took that easy way out.

If Tyson really thought he could knock Holyfield out he would’ve just went that route.

Wasn't the easy way out. It was a split second decision that happened while he was frustrated. If it was premeditated I would call it the easy way out.

I wish we could have gotten the fight or that the ref would have at least called the headbutt cause who knows what would have happened :manny:

The N.O
Evander was at that point in their career was a better fighter. Mike was frustrated because of the head butts but wanted out. Mike knew he couldn’t win. Evander was on steriods in my opinion also.

Drug of choice: Testosterone/Saizen (HGH)/Glukor (treatment for impotence)
Remarks: Federal documents say Holyfield received packages containing human growth hormones in 2004. The packages were addressed to an “Evan Fields,” but Holyfield’s PED usage could have possibly started in 1988 during his jump up to heavyweight. According to Dr. Margaret Goodman, Holyfield was questioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission about HGH usage following his 1994 loss to Michael Moorer. After the fight Holyfield encountered heart problems that could have been caused by growth hormone usage.

I think Tyson would've won a decision if not for them headbutts. He was figuring out ways to get to holyfield and was causing damage. Imo he was past the frustration stage and reverted back to young Tyson And was fighting with rage wanting to punish him

Holyfield WAS kicking his ass, but I agree with your point. Mike was obviously frustrated that he couldn't hurt or intimidate Evander. So......:francis:
Holyfield was far from kicking his ass in the second fight. Mike was holding his own and getting some shots off. You can see his frustration building with the headbutts and see him bytching to the ref about it. I think Mike just snapped. If it was simply just trying to get out of the fight and scared why would Mike still be trying to fight Holyfield afterwards.

You cant look at the 2nd fight in a vacuum. Holyfiekd beat Mike's ass for 10 straight rounds and tko'd his ass the first fight.

2nd fight was a continuation. Holyfield was stronger,a better boxer, and was manhanndling him. Mike was scared Nd disnt want to get stopped again so he paniced and took tge cowards way out, he choose a DQ instead of fetting taken out again.

Stop with the tyson excuses.
