I think everyone knew that was a hoax and he is a great actor. His comeback isn't anything amazing really.

i used to dislike Joaquin Phoenix for some reason and it kind if clouded my thoughts on him as an actor.
i thought he would've got the role of Joker in Dark Knight or ended up as a bad guy in atleast one of Nolans Batmans.

^^ it was something like that, but much more than you'd expect. The movie was more so a character study than a love story. its main focus was Joaquin's character and his battle with extreme depression/suicide.



I remember being uncomfortable as hell while watching it. The interactions between his character and everyone else were so odd and unsettling. I would recommend watching it at least once for his performance.
