Did Gaston kill Bambi's mom?

So, I gave my neices a bunch of disney movies back at christmas a few years ago and they were staying up that night watching them all back to back. Then, the next morning they were still watching them and they are on Bambi. But when the younger one woke up (she was maybe 6) she asks the older one (like 9 I think) what she missed... she tells her:

"Nothing, it just started. Gaston killed Bambi's mom."


I just thought it was her getting her movies confused, but after listening to the Gaston song today on youtube (I was watching itsreal85's aladin spoof then I just kinda ended up there... don't judge me breh... that song is my 2015 anthem) Gaston has antlers on his wall.

Not implying she had antlers, just that the antlers represent that he kills deer on the regular. There are dear heads all mounted and lined up on his wall.
