Saw this on Sunday….Very good, was really impressed. Some of the stories are stronger then others, and resonated less or more, depending upon execution, and the points they were making, but it's all well acted, well shot, and expertly put together. The second, and fourth stories were my personal favorites, all the social themes throughout the movie are VERY Latin, themes of inequality, outrage, the caste system, the hopelessness of the poor, the decadent and callous nature of the rich, but, I think these have become more universal themes, esp in America, though most here would not agree, I see undeniable similarities..….There are also the ever universal themes of love, betrayal, anger, frustration, helplessness…It's all done in a very pitch black style of sarcasm and acceptance, like I said very Latin. The audience in my theater often retreated into laughter, where it was not appropriate or needed, typical of American moviegoers. The last story ran a bit too far, with conflicted and contradicting messages, but still an enjoyable story, the third was not as angry, tense or as subtle as the second and fourth, but still effective. The third story of the engineer was a little light for me, in the conclusion, but I thought the set up and characterization was excellent. This is one of the better things I've seen all year, and I'd highly recommend it.

One of the better anthology films I've seen. Although it wasn't always succinct, its layers of morality didn't feel like they were overdone.
