Eh, not a huge fan of the strategy as it's bound to back fire at some point. But the Dem party used it in 2022 and had a fair bit of success with it.

Essentially, D's leverage the MAGA/Far-right influence in the R party to boost the absolute worst R candidates who appeal to MAGA/Far-right base to make the election of the D in those races easier.

Help the most batshyt crazy R win their primary so that you can tear them down for being unqualified, batshyt crazy, and a threat which influences D turnout. Same reason D's prefer a Biden vs Trump matchup.

The problem with the strategy is it solely considers short-term gains without any consideration of long-term costs. Pushing for the most polarized candidates and the most idiotic elections will only hurt the country in the long run as people become more and more incapable of reasonable governance.

I agree but I believe the idea is that this would force the GOP to raise the bar on its candidates out of necessity. I see this practice going away once non-MAGA Rs reclaim their party.

Dems are just using the same strategy republicans used when they amplified a lot of far left voices in competitive races.
