Andrade-Charlo Falls Out From December 13 Card
Posted by: Rick Reeno on 11/16/2014

By Rick Reeno

Multiple sources with knowledge of the details have confirmed to BoxingScene.com that WBO junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14KOs) will not defend his title against Jermell Charlo (24-0, 11KOs) on Showtime's December 13th event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Based on what BoxingScene was told, there were some financial details that had to be worked out with Andrade. Additionally, Andrade's wife is giving birth around that time period and he wanted to be by her side.

There has been some talk of Andrade-Charlo being pushed back to either January 10 or January 17, but BoxingScene has been made to understand that HBO has a first and last for Andrade's next fight, so nothing is set in stone that Andrade's return will land on Showtime.

Still scheduled for that December Showtime card, is Amir Khan facing Devon Alexander, Keith Thurman battling Leonard Bundu, and also former champions Abner Mares, Victor Ortiz and Beibut Shumenov will be featured in separate fights.

On the same night in Las Vegas, about a mile down the road at the Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino, HBO will have a televised tripleheader featuring Timothy Bradley vs. Diego Chaves in the main event, Andy Lee facing Matt Korobov for the WBO 160-pound title and Jose Benavidez taking on Mauricio Herrera for the WBA interim-140 pound belt.

This hurts the Showtime broadcast too brehs:snoop:

That means the co-main event will be Keith Thurman vs Leonard Bundhu:mjcry:

I understand having a baby, but he knew that before hand obviously. Money seems like a more legit reason, but even still....who the f*ck is Boo Boo in the big scheme of things?

This fight (Andrade vs Charlo) was a big part of the card.

Andrade ASKED for one of the Charlos, and still backed out:snoop:

But he claims Canelo is ducking him:camby:

I think the fact that he isn't even in the discussion for a Canelo fight is as much of an issue as the money. Dude considers himself a bigger star than he really is and is acting out.

Well, he had some good opponents lined up and he pulled out of both (Matt Korobov and Jermell Charlo).

Now, he's acting like he wants K9:rudy:

Why leave that money on the table as a boxer?

Is this guy that special?

I knew the vultures would start circling K9 the second he won that belt.
Everybody looking at him like easy work to win a title.

I like Andrade, and he has some very good boxing skills, but he's turning down some good names (even though him and Charlo would've been a toss up, because Jermell Charlo is a very good boxer as well)

Getting Korobov or Jermell Charlo on his resume would've been a GREAT look for him, but NOPE....he rather make up excuses and try and fight the easier K9 instead:snoop:
