TWO of the alleged gang rapists involved in the sexual assault and murder of a Delhi student have pleaded to be transferred from the city's Tihar Jail, claiming they are regularly raped and assaulted by inmates and guards.

Defence lawyer AP Singh told The Australian yesterday that he would apply for the transfer of his clients, gym cleaner Vinay Sharma and Akshay Thakur, from the overcrowded jail before the special fast-track court hearing the case.
