There are a couple of eddie murphy movies that aren't received well that i find extremely entertaining. Two off the top are Boomerang and Harlem Nights.

I listened to Tariq Nasheed's podcast and he made a very good point that I never thought of concerning that movie. Basically he said the only reason it got so many low reviews from the general mainstream media is because it was about Black people who were in good economic position and there weren't any white bosses (or white folks at all really) in the film.

It definitely has some really funny moments. It just fails on every other level. It has a stupid nonsensical plot elements, bad special effects, and cheesy acting (though I think that was done on purpose).


Way worse (and less funny) movies have gotten good reviews, but you know a film with an all black cast is going to get raked over the coals. A Prime example of this is how UnderCover Brother was received compared to the Austin Powers films.
