Independent wrestling promotions PROGRESS Wrestling and Defy Wrestling are joining forces.

The two promotions issued a press release on Friday announcing that they are merging together. PROGRESS is based in the United Kingdom, while Defy is based out of Seattle in the United States.


"The merger will create a truly global presence for both organisations with mutual benefits for both parties and aid further expansion plans that will offer something really exciting for wrestling fans around the world," the press release said.

The announcement was made in advance of Defy's seventh anniversary show taking place tonight (February 9). PROGRESS has existed since 2012 and was sold to Lee McAteer and Martyn Best at the end of 2021.

It's walking distance but I've never gone to a DEFY show. They are about as official as Indy's go though

Yeah, I mean I don't focus on Indy's like that but these are about as official as it gets, ever (post NWA era). DEFY is basically the NXT for AEW.

They're just letters

DEFY is an actual company running shows that AEW scouts from, and sends wrestlers down to. Not just diet sugar free AEW light-adjace-esque like ROH is. Swerve, Darby, Nick Wayne are all from there, and the bucks, Moxley, Rocky Romera, Eddie Kingston, Pentagon JR, all worked there while under AEW's banner......hell DEFY 1 was Cody vs Swerve.

I mean they always had shows on both platforms, might as well form like voltron of what's left of the UK scene. Makes me miss Riptide Wrestling
