Ppl would kill for these numbers today and albums were 12-15 dollars each....but somehow they say they getting more $$$ today without physical sales

That's what I'm saying.

What generation of music truly made more money?

The music biz notably took a downfall.

I'm guessing they are making more money from subscribers on streaming services. As of 2018, the music industry generated $43 Billion, which is the most it has made since 2006.

Breh that 12 was only once (when you bought it)

now, every time you stream, they get paid
That stream is less than a penny in revenue for some artists. Plus in this era, the album really is only listened to for a days, maybe a few weeks. Back then the advances, album budgets and video budgets were much larger. There is a reason people like Dame and Puff (management) made millions without having to write a rhyme.
