Cook with a Mouth
A 19-year-old Immokalee woman who authorities say intended to take her baby with her as she worked the streets as a prostitute was arrested Wednesday, accused of hitting her former boyfriend who tried to stop her.
Alisia Alverez, of the 600 block of Booker Boulevard, is unemployed and was planning to leave home around 1 p.m. to work the streets to earn money for drugs, according to an arrest report.
However, her former boyfriend, Braulio Cano, 24 — the father of the child — who lives in the same home with Alverez, attempted to stop her. According to reports, he told Alverez she could do what she wanted, but she could not take the 1-year-old with her.
After an argument, Alverez left the home. She then returned and grabbed the child through an open window, reports said. When she went to the front door to get the child’s stroller, reports say she and Cano argued again.
Alverez struck Cano several times in the face and neck, scratching him, report said. Cano told Collier County sheriff’s deputies that he then pinned Alverez to the bed. Alverez provided a similar account of the argument to deputies, but there is no mention in reports of her discussing drugs or prostitution.
Alverez was arrested on a domestic violence battery charge and taken to the Collier County jail. She remained in custody Thursday night. A phone number listed on her arrest report went directly to voicemail. Neither Alverez nor Cano has previous arrest history in Collier County, according to Sheriff’s Office records.
Deputies left the baby with Cano. A copy of the report was sent to the Florida Department of Children and Families.
