Forget pretentious, dated shyt like Colors, New Jack City or Boys in the Hood, Death Wish III is the real deal and timeless.
Shot and set in the 80's but clearly forward looking in its representation of post-racial America. Even the gangs are multi-ethnic. Another neat thing about the movie is it doesn't waste time with character development, great, just more time for action.
But what I appreciate the most is the film's courage. Instead of just presenting the gang problem, Death Wish III offers the solution: Extermination. The final shootout is 20 minutes of street trash getting gunned down. Mostly by Bronson, but later on, the community gets some balls and rises up against the gangs. Inspirational.
