Mathurin most likely won’t be there at 11 but I like him.

I think he can be better than R.J. and they’d be a good swingman pairing. :hubie:

At the very least I think he would be a bigger and more athletic version of KCP.

I also like the comparison of T-Ross with defensive ability.

ainge would want more than rj...especially cause he'd have to pay him. so rj and picks aint enough especially with a dude like ainge.
again the team would be gimped and mediocre as hell with limited ability to add more talent around mitchell...which he needs. he aint luka
Ainge can have anything as long as we keep Toppin and Quickley.

To me that’s the point how dynamic, rangy, athletic a core of Mitchell, Toppin, Quickley can be.

Donovan coming home is a long shot it most likely won’t happen.

I'm not that high on that grouping. need to see more from obi and quickley...especially with them being mismanaged by a coach like thibs :yeshrug: and the cast around them would be trash in all likelihood. at best (if they had elite defenders around them)... a play-in team as it currently stands in the landscape of the east.
And ainge would ask for 1 of obi or quickley and it would be a dealbreaker without one...thats how much of a hard ass he is and you know that
knicks need a star but going about it this way would be counterproductive towards long term success

Obi and Quickley are ready

If Ainge asks for one of them and makes it a deal breaker then he can kick rocks. Mitchell isn’t worthy of a Paul George or Carmelo Anthony type haul.

sample sizes too small to make this assertion...but I wouldnt trade them either unless its for a true all nba guy on the first or second team.
if danny wasnt in the front office i'd be more cool on the idea of trading with them...but danny literally only does trades that involve stars if he can outright win...and win the deal by a LOT....and given context of the jazz being small market and needing to build with young controllable talent via draft or dudes on rookie deals....obi and quickley's value would mean more to him than trading for rj and immediately having to pay him 150+ mill....not even getting to the picks.

Definitely looks like the pick is between Davis, Daniels, and Mathurin. Considering Mathurin likely goes earlier. I would say it’s between Davis and Daniels. Davis fits what the Knicks look for a lot more than Dyson, but Dyson might fit the roster needs a lot more do to his ability to create and potential to take the tougher wing assignment instead of RJ.

Raptors won the title playing VanVleet and Lowry together a lot.

Warriors are playing Steph and Poole.

West-Goodrich, Frazier-Monroe, Thomas-Dumars also won multiple championships with a small backcourt.

There’s really no evidence to show why it wouldn’t work. Portland hasn’t been a championship team just because they have a small backcourt.
You just listed a bunch of elite defenders though aside from Steph and Poole, (also, 1- Steph should never be used in any example about anything basketball related since he’s a literal one of one. And 2- we still don’t know what ceiling they have together.) Mitchell isn’t that.

I personally think surrounding Mitchell with big versatile defensers is the way to go. Obviously Mitchell and IQ will play together plenty, but i don’t want the bulk of their minutes being with each other.

It’s between Davis and Mathurin now. :sadcam:

Don’t listen to Givony, his mocks are all over the place come draft night.

The man isn’t accurate in general. The only thing he and a lot of analyst get right is the first pick because of you have #1 there isn’t a reason to hide who you are going to pick. Just know they worked out Dyson early and spoke to Mathurin and Griffin. They are also attending Davis’s pro day in a couple of days.

Fair point. But guys going higher than he predicts isn’t on him. If he has intel that the team at 7 wanted Franz and he went fifth that’s not a bad prediction for example.

Tim Hardaway's name got the big attention but this dude's got the interesting one to me.

Call it a “sneaky hire.”

In moving to replace college scouts Walker Russell and Kristian Petesic, the Knicks added two talent evaluators without making an announcement.

The Post reported Thursday former Heat rival and 2022 Hall of Famer Tim Hardaway being one of the hires.

According to an NBA source, the other hire by Knicks president Leon Rose was an out-of-the-box addition in Vince Baldwin — a longtime Nike talent scout who has extensive contacts across his years in the high school and college ranks.
