I don’t know why we tried to make him a point guard for so long. He can’t run an offense and was better fit off ball.
Frank still sucks he looked just as bad offensively as he’s always had in those playoff games. Thankfully for him he was playing with Luka and some shooters and secondary shot creators.

Everyone knows he can defend well.

I don’t like the idea of a Mitchel and IQ backcourt at all. I hoped I’d be wrong but small backcourts don’t win and was part of the reason CJ and Dame never worked.
Na, IQ could start with Mitchell. They need to put Duece in the bench team.

Raptors won the title playing VanVleet and Lowry together a lot.

Warriors are playing Steph and Poole.

West-Goodrich, Frazier-Monroe, Thomas-Dumars also won multiple championships with a small backcourt.

There’s really no evidence to show why it wouldn’t work. Portland hasn’t been a championship team just because they have a small backcourt.

Both of them were well above average defenders and extremely high iq while they had former dpoy players albeit older (gasol, ibaka) with multiple long wings that also play defense...you know who kawhi and pascal are. they would get cooked...particularly mitchell. dudes defense fell off a cliff

Then you swap IQ for Duece.

D. Mitch, Duece, RJ, Toppin, Bamba.

The coaching is ass though.

Yeah but I.Q. is solid on defense and Mitchell used to be a defensive player in college. It’s up to him to be reinvigorated on that side of the floor again and Thibs would challenge him.

Both of these guys have wingspans near 6’10 which matters.

Obviously they will need to be surrounded by strong defensive players and a good system.

hypothetically why do you think ainge in a deal wouldnt ask for rj or obi or iq and numerous picks and how would that leave us good enough to compete for even a playoff spot.
mitchell is a good player(flawed still) but the initial amount of talent that it would take would set us back to the point where it would be donovan mitchell + bums here.
I'd rather stay the course and wait it out without having to toss out young talent to get a star here by himself.
we can be mediocre without one.
