I'm watching Dead Presidents right now for the millionth time.

Anthony ignored Juanita's letters during his time in the army. During that time, she decided to do her thing. What do you really expect? She really could have just stayed with that nygga Cutty when Anthony came back, but she went back to Anthony. Cutty still had strong feelings for Juanita, but the nygga stepped aside.

During their last encounter, this nygga Cutty flat out says "you back now, & I'm gone." Now what agitated Anthony is when Cutty offered to help if he needed any cash. Anthony responded "man stay the fukk away from my family." Cutty proceeded to whip that nygga's ass. I guess Anthony forgot he was talking to a grown ass man.

When Anthony said the only way he survives is not thinking about the world outside and how it didn't exist to him, that was one of the realest movie quotes I've ever heard. When you're away from everybody and everything you love, in a strange land with your life on the line, the mental side of that is unyielding. Reading those letters and being reminded of the constant hell that was his life for 4-5 years would've driven him insane or inept on the battlefield.
