I know Chi-chi pushed him into academics when he was a child, but just take a look at the state of the Dragonball Universe.

These nikkas can already travel through space at faster than light speeds. Time travel has already been accomplished. Ridiculous healing tech already exists, and then there's Senzu beans.

On top of that these nikkas have the Dragonballs which can grant damn near any wish.

A galactic threat shows up damn near every week. What kind of study was more important than being able to protect the Earth?

I don't think he won much also Chi Chi's father was mostly supporting them. Goku hardly made any money in DBZ. I think he made more in Dragonball.
