Danny Garcia on fighting Adrien Broner, thinks Peterson fights does nothing for him

Danny Garcia is currently the reigning WBC and WBA Junior Welterweight champion but that may not be the case for long as Garcia is looking to move up in weight and enter boxing’s glamour division of 147 pounds.

When Garcia was in Carson, CA for the Shawn Porter-Kell Brook fight he informed the plan was to look to move up which means that a fight with IBF Junior Welterweight champion Lamont Peterson may not be a possibility as once thought.

BoxingScene asked Garcia if he felt the Peterson fight was big enough for him to stick around at 140 pounds.

“I think it’s a good fight. I think it’s a good fight for me but I don’t think it would do anything for my career because I think he still has a little bit to prove. I beat people he struggled with. Like we have a lot of common opponents and I beat everybody. So I don’t know man. To be honest for you, I don’t know,” Garcia would tell BoxingScene.

Another possible mega fight for Garcia at Junior Welterweight is against Adrien Broner who is looking to become a four time champion in four weight classes if he captures a title at 140 pounds. Recently Broner said he felt a fight with him and Garcia would be bigger later and Garcia was asked if he’d be willing to take that fight.

“He’s matched up and fighting I think September 6th so his focus is on that fight. But I don’t know. In boxing people win and people lose and sometimes things never happen. But I’m always up for whatever, I’m a fighter,” said the Philadelphia champion.

Garcia hopes to get in the ring before the end of the year and we’ll find out then if he’ll continue his reign at Junior Welterweight or tries to start a new one 7 pounds north.

I told yall, AB and Garcia are friends outside of the ring. No matter how much WE clamor for them to get in the ring, they dont see it that way. Just because you're friends outside the ring shouldn't be used as an excuse for not fighting. This is a business.

Thurman and Swift are friends as well outside the ring, but Thurman said he'd be glad to fight Danny. Same with Jacobs and Quillin.

AB 8 figures? That's not going to happen anytime soon. If he wants 8 figures he needs to beat Danny on the way to 8 figures, it aint gonna be for 8 figs to fight Danny.

It looks like its be one of their generations though. AB is more talented, but Danny looks more committed. I wanna see how the landscape changes over the next few years.
