Ok, so last Summer I had a friend , who was an agent for Farmers Insurance, switch my auto insurance policy from Geico, to Farmers after showing me that I would save more with their safe driver's discount. I didn't hold back with my driving history, which was perfect except for a ticket in 2010 and 2011 and a DUI which I had expunged back in 2009. The monthly rate she quoted me was so low, I decided to get renter's insurance as well for a combined $141 a month for six months. The auto quote by itself was $119 a month. (I was paying $841 for every six months with auto insurance alone with Geico) The agent took all of my information , including my driver's license number to crunch the numbers in her system to get her results. So I thought
A month in a half into my policy, she starts calling me , questioning my date of birth , social security number and my driver's license number I'm like why would I give you the wrong info? Everything would go through the DMV in the end.
Finally I then get a call from her that she found some shyt on my driving record and because of that, my insurance policy would be going up to over $300 a month. I'm like So I had her cancel all of it . Geico saw the same shyt on my record and my rate wasn't that much. If I knew from the get go that my quote from them would be that high, I wouldn't have left Geico. Not a month an a half later and two months into my policy.
After I went to Progressive in September, I get a statement in the mail from Farmers for $189.81 . For what? I paid the two months I had with them already. Turns out they're trying to get back the amount after taking off my safe driver's discount. I called their local district office about it but I didn't hear back. However, they did take my bill to collections less than a month later without warning
Finally I get a hold of someone from their district office who later called me back today saying they couldn't do anything about it, even with them admitting that their agent screwed up. According to them, Farmers has a 59 day window to make any changes in my policy . However, their agent screwed up my Driver's License information all along in the beginning and didn't fix it until nearly two months later. Nothing on my part.
I just got off the phone with the department of insurance for info to file a complaint against their agent but is there anything I can do about this brehs? I'm going to talk to my cousin in Dallas who's a defense attorney to see if there's a way I can get out of paying this bill.
I don't want to get fukked from an Insurance Company that ADMITTED they screwed up
