:damn:

Conor McGregor road an overloaded hype train into his UFC 189 match-up with late replacement Chad Mendes, but detractors aside, he lived up to the hype.

After surviving some early takedowns and ground and pound from Mendes, McGregor turned the tables late in the second round, scoring a TKO stoppage due to strikes with just 7 ticks of the clock left.

Say what you will about McGregor’s brash style, but it sells. And he was rewarded handsomely, to the tune of half-a-million dollars in disclosed pay. Mendes, for stepping in on short notice, equaled that amount.

They’re full contracts were not disclosed, but each likely had other triggers (i.e. pay-per-view bonuses, etc.) in their contracts that made their final tallies much higher than the disclosed $500,000 each on the payroll reported to the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Welterweight champion Robbie Lawler earned $300,000 for his brutal war with Rory MacDonald, whose reported show money was $59,000.

He either has a deal that includes a lower base in exchange for higher incentives or he has the worst representation ever.

That brutality of that fight passed what I am willing to call entertainment.

Those two were going off of pure adrenaline. Rory was undoubtedly close to death. Will he be able to cover all of his expenses with that 59K?

The hollow platitudes of being called a 'warrior' will not mean anything when one becomes a demented middle aged man that has to rely on others to chaperone you to the bathroom.

I honestly would like to see kneepads, elbowpads and heel pads. I don't think the sport will suffer because of it, and it will help to reduce some of the trauma that these fighters have to endure.

either this is an old contract he's on, or he really need a new agent, cos he's been top 5 for a while now, no way should he only be on 59k
