Cult Classic: Sleepaway Camp [ SPOILER ALERT ]

One of the most shocking endings in horror movie history. I knew Anglea had something to do with the killings but had no clue that ...

Because hinsight is always 50-50, my questions are the following:


1. Why was it okay for the cook to make sexual references and jokes about the children at the camp? Like everyone knew he was a pedophile and thought it was funny. @ 10:00

2. Was there a reason why Angela cut off ol boys head at the end? He was actually good to her.

When the camp counselors found Angela with the severed head, why were they more shocked that Angela was actually a boy than the the severed head?


And why was she making that demonic sound?

3. Aunt Martha was a delusional tramp. She dressed her surviving nephew as a girl. So with that begging said, is she the root to all of the madness? @


4. Speaking of madness, how did Ricky not know that Angela was his male cousin?!? @ 4:55-7:19

Last time I watched this, was years and years ago, I was younger and couldn't fully comprehend what was going on at that time, but your questions make me want to watch again from an adult perspective. I think because it was the first movie I watched that was so shocking, I avoided it for a long time, bc it was so distorted to me, so I couldn't do your questions any justice but I'm putting this on my watch list to look at today and ill be back .

Re-Watched the first few mins.,I'm starting to remember now. The boat accident kind of spoils the movie looking back ..the only person that survived was the little boy, the father and little girl were killed. Then, it's 8yrs later they show the girl with her cousin.. but the little boy was the only one still floating in the water alive. The little girl was decapitated when the boat collided with them, (which was the reason for the head at the end - symbolism. I think for Angela it was a connection to her dead sister..in a way she loved him(her camp boyfriend) that much to cut his head off as homage....very weird )

That pedo comment ..the only thing I could think of is the 80s not being as p.c., everyone laughed it off bc they know dude is a perv..the black man checks him but not in a serious way

As far as the aunt, I think with the death of Angela's father,sister, witnessing all that...and the aunt's obsession with making him into a girl for 8 years..all that is real traumatizing..By the time Angela went to camp, he had a psychotic break. Reason for the demonic scream too , finally snapped.

I shouldn’t laugh but I died. Like the counselors were shocked about Angela than the actual murders like wtf. Yeah, killing people and cutting of their heads are normal but omg, Angela is a boy?!?!?

But if you look at a lot of films from back then they was a lot of sick shyt that went over our heads, even cartoons.
Funny as I am typing this I am thinking if this movie came out today the "agenda" crowd would have a field day breaking this film down
And that is no diss, just saying that this film is a perfect example that Hollywood been on that tip.
