 I'm 4 eps in. I like it so far. Not surprised @YaThreadFloppedB! though the :dame: too strong for some brehs here.
I am going to watch only cause you are watching it.

15 min in I was like :scust:

I am literally not giving anything away since I have barely watched this show but UK brehs explain this shyt.

The black breh on there is driving his clearly mixed kids to school so I am like he must be married to a white woman like every tv show in the UK.
Based on UK programming, it would be nothing but mixed couples there.

But plot twist, he comes home all "honey I am home" and his partner is a gay man WTF?

Is this the new thread? On UK programming black men are gay now?

:russ: I don't know if UK is on that wave now but I haven't seen that breh play a straight character since Utopia. He might be the UKs Michael K. Williams (RIP) he taking all the zesty roles.

LOL I looked him up, he looks like takes nothing but gay roles, so I am assuming he is gay in real life.

Just started episode #1.

That opening montage - this was on Disney in the UK/IR?

The store scene - smh, lazy writing? or am I just tired of seeing fictional black people always having to deal with racist cops? That's something that's very true to life, and in stark contrast to him dropping of his kids - but damn if it ain't exhausting.

Yeah, Disney don't care about the family friendly branding outside of US/NA and since Hulu doesn't match their international reach, the harder shows appear on Disney+ for foreign folk. That might change once they integrate Hulu.

6 episodes in
  1. Main Character - He's smart and dumb at the same time. And why is a personal trainer, good African boy, a Roadman? Not when we already have Top Boy....
  2. MC's family and romance - I'm just not buying it. I don't go out of my way to see Brokeback Mountain stuff, but I think the standard for this type of stuff is The Last of Us. I find the kids particularly annoying, but it's hard to have kids in a show and them not go the stereotypical annoying stuff. (That said in the Handmaid's Tale they had a dozen plus kids run through the forest and remained quiet the whole time? FOH)
  3. Generically Racist White People - Yawn. Although the big wig around town sub plot was funny for 2 seconds, it really was a distraction from the main plot.
  4. Sista - annoying from the jump. I hate this archetype because I don't like these can't STFU broads in real life.
  5. Graffiti Artist - FOH, Lady Pink she ain't.
  6. White Widow - Chicks being great at shooting and hand to hand combat - sure, okay. She's a loner/mountain woman/psycho...I mean I guess...But she's tedious in a different way than won't shut her mouth sista.
  7. Geriatric Terminator - Yawn.
  8. Gemma Arterton - The British Beach archetype is always a good one. I'm cutting more for the MI-6 broad in Slow Horses though.
This show is still pretty brutal and graphic.

I’m 4 episodes in and I’m enjoying it.

The gay styff was surprising. But didn’t bother me as it wasn’t explicit. But at least they were a normal couple not some promiscuous sissy stereotypes. I do have to question why it’s always the black guy these days? that or they are trans.

Not saying those shouldn’t exist in media but its very focused on black people especially.

Its as weird as the kill monger haircut on nearly every black male character in games recently

Its like creatives have taken away the weirdest lessons from the Black Lives Matter movement

Maybe its the influence of black queer people who are on these productions?
