LOS ANGELES, CA – As it continues to expand its program options to its growing subscriber base, UMC – Urban Movie Channel, the first premium subscription streaming service created for fans of African American and urban content, is excited to announce its new, original drama series, CRAIG ROSS, JR.’S MONOGAMY, a tantalizing new series that pushes past the limitations and boundaries of traditional marriage
Created by husband and wife producing team Craig Ross, Jr. (Blue Hill Avenue) and Caryn Ward Ross (The Game), the series follows four married couples as they agree to participate in an unconventional form of therapy with the hopes of reviving their failing relationships. Featuring a star-studded cast that includes Brian White (Ray Donovan), Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends), Darius McCrary (Star), Vanessa Simmons (Growing Up Hip Hop), Wesley Jonathan (The Soul Man), Caryn Ward Ross (The Game), Blue Kimble (Media), and Chrystee Pharris (Media), the show explores the meaning of monogamy. Does it work? Is it necessary for a lasting and fulfilling relationship? Is it time to expand the definition, or is it a societal construct whose time has come to an end? The first episode of Craig Ross, Jr.’s Monogamy will premiere at www.UMC.tv (and on various devices) on Friday, May 4, 2018. New episodes will air weekly through June 1, 2018.
In Craig Ross, Jr.’s Monogamy, four troubled couples from around the country travel to Los Angeles, surrendering themselves to a new counseling treatment called “Swap Therapy.” Desperate to repair their broken marriages, they agree to trade spouses while being completely away from, and out of communication with, their regular lives for two months. As they seek healing and a better understanding of their individual relationships, each participant begins to see themselves in ways they could not have imagined for the first time in their lives. As they struggle to manage their short-term desires while maintaining their long-term commitments, they face challenges and temptations that ultimately may prove too strong to fight through.
“Craig Ross, Jr.’s Monogamy explores the deepest, most emotional parts of marriage – love, trust and intimacy – and what happens to these four couples when their relationship foundations are threatened. Our outstanding ensemble cast play characters in situations that we rarely see - complex, conflicted and vulnerable people,” said show creator Craig Ross, Jr. and executive producer Caryn Ward Ross, who also stars. “We are thrilled Monogamy will premiere on UMC, giving a fantastic platform for our vision.”
“Craig Ross, Jr.’s Monogamy is the perfect type of sexy, provocative, relationship drama to debut on UMC,” said Angela Northington who oversaw development of the series. “Craig and Caryn have delivered a deeply compelling show that appeals to a growing base of UMC subscribers.”
