Apologies to Cabrera's Triple Crown, Trout's remarkable rookie campaign....and everyone else.

But Kimbrel struck out HALF of the batters he faced. HALF!

In 62.1 innings, he faced 231 hitters this season. He struck out 116 of them.

The next highest inning total for a 50% K-rate is......5.2

If you lower the minimum of hitters faced to only 10 (with 5 Ks)...there are only FOUR PLAYERS EVER.

:to: That's my closer

Dude's been automatic seen he's been up aside from last September.

Hopefully Venters gets back on track next year, or preferably in the playoffs.

He did what hasn't been done in like, 112 years. It's outstanding.

Although of course I want my man R.A. to win the Cy Young, the godliness of Kimbrel's season as a reliever should get him some attention for the award. I don't know if there should be a "reliever" award but I know if there was one this year, anybody who wouldn't vote for him should be banned from voting.

Even more dominant than Fernando Rodney and he had a 0.61 ERA.

he never gave up more than 1 hit in an inning all season. that is fukking absurd

I'm staring at these words, and still don't believe what I'm reading. That's ridiculous.

Relievers shouldn't win the Cy Young.

I know ya'll hate the shyt outta WAR, but bear with me...

Kimbrel just had one of the greatest seasons for a closer...and he has 3.4 WAR. 15 NL pitchers finished higher.

It's simply that relievers don't throw enough innings when compared to the elite starters. You just can't be great enough over 60-70 innings to compared to someone throwing 210-220.

I still don't believe this dude's season.

2006-2011: 4.42 ERA (never lower than 4.24), 5.2 BB/9

2012: 0.61 ERA, 1.8 BB/9

:wtf:

It's not as ridiculous as Kimbrel....but it's certainly more miraculous :heh:

I don't keep up with baseball like I used to. I had to google him just to see who he played for. He averaged almost 2 K's per inning. 7 runs in 63 innings :wow:
