Let's be reality. Arafat's people fought like crazy against armies and engaged in James Bond style subterfuge all across the middle east and north africa. The fukk did these johnny come lately religious fanatics at Hamas ever do? Dig a few tunnels and strap on suicide vests? You get no stripes for that :childplease:

they should do some DDay style landing from the Mediterranean and give Hamas that work

Didn't they try and fail at this before, though?

this is a good point... I'm just kidding (a new internecine conflict would be disastrous for the palestinians) but it's a good question about why they didn't win the last time in Gaza

I guess the west bank political structure is not really capable of fighting like their predecessors in 1982 ... they don't have that raw militant hunger anymore and are more oriented towards administrative and diplomatic spheres

If they really really REALLY wanted to get it in though? I guess it would essentially end up a proxy war between Iran-backed Hamas (with Friends in Hezbollah) and the gulf states... although the Gulf states are getting friendly with Hamas now

fatah stopped going hard because they realized they'd lose. hamas was smart enough to turn those same losses into PR victories

If they had the capability, they would have done so already.

There's really no way for Fatah gunmen to get to the Gaza Strip either and it's not like Fatah can spring up organically in Gaza.

Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?

Fatah tried to bring it to Hamas and they got their shiit pushed in

fatah didn't really fight though... they didn't get organized from the top levels and strategically try to battle it out, it was less than half hearted

Hamas' leader is back in Gaza now

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/09/w...t-speech-on-anniversary-celebration.html?_r=0

they're trying to reunify with the other parties etc but who knows

it's going to be a mistake for Hamas to keep running Gaza like a piece of land separated from the west bank, that's what israel wants
