Cotto vs Bradley Being Considered for December, Canelo in 2015

Depending on the outcome of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez's upcoming fight with Erislandy Lara on July 12, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum is very interested in staging a fight between Canelo and Miguel Cotto on Cinco De Mayo weekend (May 2) in 2015.

Cotto is slated to return in the month of December. Back on June 6th, Arum told BoxingScene.com's David Greisman that Timothy Bradley, a former champion at 140 and 147, was a frontrunner to face Cotto. Bradley is still a very viable option for Cotto's next fight, confirmed Arum to Cuatro Deportes. The weight appears to be the sticking point, although Arum has suggested a catch-weight of 155 or even 154.5, which allows Cotto to make a defense of his WBC middleweight title. With Bradley coming off a decision loss to Manny Pacquiao in their April rematch, it will be interesting to see how well a Cotto-Bradley showdown would perform on pay-per-view. Cotto's recent HBO PPV against Sergio Martinez fell below expectations. The promoters, and HBO, expected at least a number around 500,000 and the card only generated 350,000 purchases.
